Joining the EU Open Source Week this year? With this guide you won’t miss out on any of the open technology events and activities during your visit in Brussels!

Every year, the end of January is the opportunity for  thousands to meet up in Brussels to exchange on open source and open technologies. The draw of Europe’s biggest open source conference, FOSDEM, and the success of the top open source policy event, OFE’s EU Open Source Policy Summit has led attracted side events, social activities, and workshops for those interested in open technology, digital policy and the goings-on in the EU, all coming together to form the EU Open Source Week.

Are you organising an event during the EU Open Source Week? You can submit it here to be added to the virtual guide. 

Event submission guidelines 

This guide is for all organisers and participants to the EU Open Source Week to promote and find open technology events and activities. 

To ensure that all the events included in the guide are relevant to the EU Open Source Week and foster an open and inclusive exchange, all submissions will be reviewed against the following guidelines:

  • The principal topic of the event should be related to open technologies and related policies in Europe, including but not limited to open source software and hardware, open standards, open source policy, open data. 
  • The event should be happening in Brussels during the EU Open Source Week in January-February 2025. 
  • For events happening solely online, there should be a direct relevance to open technologies in Europe and/or to EU digital policies. 
  • Align with OFE Community Participation Guidelines – adapted from the Contributor Covenant 1.4. 
  • All events, in particular speakers-focused events, should ensure gender diversity. For instance, panels consisting only of men (so-called “manels”) will not be promoted on the guide. 

We reserve the right to refuse events that do not align with the aforementioned guidelines. Should you have any questions about the guidelines please feel free to contact us.
